Location

Tikokino in Central Hawkes Bay is close to Waipawa (10 minutes), Waipukurau (15 minutes), Hastings (35 minutes) and Napier (45 minutes).

The attractive countryside around Tikokino is broken into numerous, small, valleys formed by streams flowing from the Ruahine Ranges to the west. This is ideal sheep, beef and deer farming country. Recently, grapes and pipfruit orchards have been planted and apples and wines are becoming a significant part of the local economy.

Tikokino and nearby Onga Onga are renown for their historic homesteads and stately gardens that date back to the first farming ventures in the 1850's.

Nearby Waipukurau has good shopping, golf courses, a sports complex, a theatre, gallery, cafes and restaurants. Gliding and hot air ballooning are popular and the Waipawa and Tukituki Rivers provide excellent trout fishing. Other outdoor pursuits include horse riding, hunting, duck shooting and 4-wheel drive adventures.

The Hawkes Bay region has a mixed urban/rural population of over 142,000 and a wonderful Mediterranean style climate of long, hot summers and mild winters.

Dubbed both lifestyle country and the fruit bowl of New Zealand , Hawkes Bay is a natural location for farming, horticulture, and the production of a wide variety of fresh foods and premium wines.
